This rich gravy recipe is packed with flavour and is a great addition to your Sunday roast.
1 tsp butter
1 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove
2 rashers of bacon, finely chopped
1 tbsp brown sugar
4 tbsp cornflour
1.2L rich beef or chicken stock
1 tbsp gravy browning (optional)
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Select the SAUTE function, add the butter and allow to melt. Add the onion, garlic and bacon and stir regularly for ~2 minutes until the onion begins to soften.
Add the sugar and continue to stir for a further 2 minutes, then cancel the SAUTE function. To save time you can leave the sauté steps out, but we would recommend using this feature to maximise flavour.
In a cup or bowl, combine the flour with some water, and mix until you have a thick paste.
Add the cornflour paste, stock and gravy browning (if using) to your Soup Chef and stir to combine.
Put the lid on and select the CHUNKY function.
When the program has finished, open and close the lid to reset the Soup Chef. Put the lid back on and pulse the SMOOTH+ function until the gravy is as smooth as you like, then remove the lid and season to taste before serving.
